The USDA food pyramid, with its emphasis on carbohydrates, has contributed to the obesity and diabetes epidemics. High-quality oils, like coconut, extra-virgin olive oil, and avocado oil, are essential for health. Animal fats, too, can be beneficial. Contrary to popular belief, reducing your daily caloric intake can hinder weight loss. When your body senses fewer calories, it lowers your metabolism. Instead, focus on the types of foods you eat, prioritizing fats and proteins over carbohydrates. Fasting programs, ranging from 16:8 fasts to longer durations, can effectively reduce visceral fat and reverse diabetes. During extended fasts, bone broth or "Bulletproof Coffee" can provide essential nutrients and energy. Hunger is often more of an emotion than a physical state. Drinking water can help alleviate hunger pangs during fasts. Combining fasting and LCHF dieting with high-intensity workouts can accelerate weight loss and improve overall health. Monitoring your blood glucose levels is crucial. Regular testing can provide valuable insights into how your body responds to different foods and lifestyle changes.
